China: New regulations for consignments in transit arriving from overseas as of 1/1/2018

Dear all

We have received a very important notice.

As of 2018/01/01, China customs has new regulations for consignments in transit arriving from overseas.

It is advised that the new regulation has canceled current pickup arrangement in-transit by truck from airport to ships at local port terminals/shipyards.

It is expected new operation details to be advised soonest by relevant authority.

However, based on above, it is recommended to communicate with the agents in ship's forthcoming calls to China ports in the period in question, for proper guidance on anticipated spares handling and prospects.

For example, at the port of Changzhou, it is advised that such consignments will not be possible to be cleared from 20th December, pending to further guidance from respective authority.

At the port of Guangzhou it is suggested as best arrangements to send all consignments before 25th-Dec.-2017 in order to have sufficient time for clearance and delivery (also pending to further guidance from respective authority).

The expected new customs regulation will be applicable to all Chinese ports
